Yash Chopra Will Inaugurate IFFI 2010

Director Yash Chopra a well known Bollywood director inaugurated the 41st International Film Festical of India (IFFI) which was held from November 22 until the 2nd of December. The IFFI 2010 is a ten-day festical with the chief guest South Superstar Vikram at the closing ceremony.

Yash ChopraRumors have circulated that some big superstars will inaugurate the film festival, it was later confirmed that Yash Chopra is set to open it. It is expected that Raima sen is going to do the ceremonial light up. There is also a rumor going on that some big names are also going to attend such as Bengali superstar Prosenjit, Manoj Bajpayee, Rahul Bose, Raj Babbar, Manisha Koirala and South actress Padmapriya. According to a senior official of the festival organizers, Hollywood director Ang Lee will also show up in the event. He is in India for his

upcoming film dubbed as Life of Pi. The movie is being shot in Goa. Chopra has given countless of hours in the entertainment industry and continues to do so with his production house Yash Raj Films. There is not going to be any Khan in the film festival this year but there are plenty of good films to watch. The festival flagged off in Goa and many of big Bollywood names came and are expected to attend the festival.

There will be a total of 18 films that will compete this year which includes two Indian entries- Vhir and Just Another Love Story. Actor Revathy Menon is among the five-member international jury that will be headed by Jerzy Antczak. The authorities are also tight-lipped about the selection of films for the World Cinema category however Om Puri’s Webst Is West is bound to be the opening film.

The Indian Panorama has a total of 47 films with 26 features. The opening film will be Mee Sindhu Tai Sapkal which is directed by Anant Mahadevan. While Leaving home, which is based on the musical band Indian Ocean is going to be the opening film salvo in the non-feature film category. The band will also perform at the festival.

Filmmaker Yash Chopra to Inaugurate IFFI 2010

Bollywood Director Yash Chopra will be inaugurating the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) this coming November 22, 2010 and ends on December 02,2010. The IFFI 2010 is a 10 day festival with the chief guest South Superstar Vikram at the closing ceremony.

Yash ChopraAfter all of the humors that some big superstar will inaugurate the film festival this year, the confirmation has come to Yash Chopra as the opening of the festival. Expected to light up the ceremonial lamp is Raima Sen. In the fact the turnout at the event is expected to be modest with celebrity like Rahul Bose, Raj Babbar, Bengali superstar Prosenjit, Manoj Bajpayee, Manisha Koirala and South actress Padmapriya. According to a senior official of one of the two organizers of the festival, Hollywood director Ang Lee will be the star attraction. He is India for his upcoming film, Life of Pi which is expected to shoot in Goa.

Total of 18 films are in competition this year including two Indian entries, Vihir and Just Another Love Story”. While List of films in the World Cinema category is not yet revealed, Om Puri’s film “West is West” is the opening film of the section. Master Class Section will be headed by Boman Irani which he will be discussing “Evolution of Comedy in Indian Cinema”. Leaving Home, based on the musical band Indian Ocean, is the opening film in the non-feature film category. The band will also perform in the festival.

Another highlight of the festival is to pay tribute to yesteryear actors like Ashok Kumar, Motilal, Nadia and filmmaker Raja Paranjape with screening of their significant films.

Bollywood director Rajkumar Gupta is totally dependent on Anurag Kashyap. Having assisted Anurag Kashyap on Black Friday, Rajkumar Gupta, the director of film Aamir, learnt the art of shooting with hidden cameras and in real locations.

UTV Spotboy's Aamir has been shot widely in real locations like Bhendi Bazzar, Crawford Market, Jacob Circle, Bandra Masjid and Dharavi of Mumbai. Shot during peak hours and in the most crowd studded areas. Aamir, the name have a literal meaning i.e., leader and the movie’s protagonist becomes a follower not because of faith, but out of fear.

Anurag Basu to direct 3 flicks

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Basu had almost gone missing after the disaster of his film Kites that starred Hrithik Roshan and Mexican beauty Barbara Mori in the lead roles. But the director has no plans of stepping out from cinema as Anurag Basu is now going to make three films in 2011 !!!

The filmmaker said that he was supposed to do two films ‘Silence‘ with Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, and the film on Kishore Kumar in 2011. Silence would’ve happened in 2010. But the movie got pushed ahead because Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘Rock Star‘ with Ranbir Kapoor got delayed for sometime. Now between Silence and Kishore Kumar biopic the director would be directing a third film.

He further stated that the shooting of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer Silence will start in January. The second leading heroine is still to be finalised. Anurag Basu stated his own reasons for being missing from the film industry for sometime now. We hope that his upcoming projects would become a hit…

Madhur’s DTBHJ to release in January

National-award-winning ace Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar’s comedy debut Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, featuring Emraan Hashmi, Ajay Devgn and Omy Vaiday, will be hitting screens on January 28, 2011. The movie which is a co-production between Madhur Bhandarkar Entertainment and Kumar Mangat Pathak’s Wide Frame Pictures, is a slice-of-the-life romantic comedy.

The director asserted that this is the first time that he’s gonna make a slice of life romantic comedy and hopes that this time too the audiences would love this film too. The story of the movie is surrounded between three men and their encounters with love.

Subhash Ghai to work with Big B

The ace director Subhash Ghai has always said he would love to work with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Though being in Bollywood for a long decade, it is a wonder how these two talented personalities haven’t worked with each other till yet. Anyways, to cover-up Subhash Ghai’s production house, Mukta Arts has announced three movies on the occasion of its 32nd anniversary.

The films will be directed by Subhash Ghai, Abbas-Mustan and Priyadarshan. The cast is being finalized and the shooting for the film will start early next year. Abbas-Mustan are making a fast paced thriller titled ‘Garjann’. According to the respective sources it has been found that both Subhash Ghai and Abbas-Mustan are quite interested to work with the fame of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan. Subhash Ghai on the other side had announced a movie named ‘Devaa’ with Big B and Madhuri Dixit way back in the late 1980s. On a sad note, the film was shelved after shooting for a couple of days.

Anusha loves publicity

Controversy heading this year’s Oscar entry from India refuses to die. Actor Raghuvir Yadav, the Budhia of Peepli Live, said that without Aamir Khan, their film would not have made it to the numerous film festivals around the world. Raghuvir Yadav asserted that they know that all has not been well between Peepli Live director Anusha Rizvi and its producer Aamir Khan.

And now it looks like the actors of the flick too are not very pleased with Anusha Rizvi. She is a publicity seeker. While Anusha Rizvi was of the opinion that it was Aamir Khan, who brought the limelight towards himself during the promotion work of Peepli Live, the stars have accused her of the same! On the other hand, Anusha Rizvi has clearly said that she will not be present at the Oscars too to promote her film. Let’s see what happens…
