Vidhu Vinod Chopra- The Unconventional Director

Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is an academy award- nominated Indian producer and filmmaker and was born on September 5, 1956. Chopra is considered to be one of the most talented and Indian filmakers. Chopra is the head of Vinod Chopra Productions. Chopra chose to study direction at the Film and Television Institute of India.

Chopra's first movie was shot in black-and-white which was Sazaaye-Maut. It was an edge of the seat thriller and was a great budgeted film. The film casted unknown actors Nasseeruddin Shah and technicians Radha Saluja, editor who were co-alumni of his from FTII, Pune and later they became flag-bearers in Indian Cinema. Chopra's film An Encounter with Faces was nominated for an Oscar in the short, non-fiction film category in the year 1979.

Vidhu directed many great films like Parinda, 1942: A Love Story, the Munna Bhai series, Parineeta and Eklavya: The Royal Guard.
