Mani Ratnam's secret passion is Golf

Director Mani Ratnam may complete his Raavan sooner than expected. Once Raavan is released, he may start working on another Hindi film with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. And, Mani wants to make both the films within the next one year. The director suffered a mild heart attack a few months ago and was admitted to hospital. He has now recovered completely and everyone is happy that he is fine.

In between schedules, the ace director decides to destress himself by engaging in his not so known hobby- the game of golf. Now, Mani is balancing out his work and recreation time. No more workaholic schedules for him.And guess who else is a golf enthusiast? It's our very own Madhavan! Madhavan and Mani Ratnam have been bonding well over golf and often give each other a lot of tips on the game.

Madhavan may soon be a part of Mani Ratnam's next film after Raavan, as he is indeed a versatile actor. In fact, Madhavan will be playing a stellar role in one of the two Hindi films that Mani will direct next year.

Close friend Santosh Sivan, who recently shot a schedule for Raavan, says, “Mani is very, very well now. He has never been fitter. He plays three hours of golf every day.”

Raavan, being made as a Tamil-Hindi bi-lingual, has been more strenuous to shoot than all other films because it’s not only being shot in the rugged jungles, but also moves in two separate time zones, being shot by two different cameramen.

A little-known fact about Mani’s life is his love for golf (the game was included in Guru) and his bonding with Madhavan over games of golf.

Madhavan, who has played golf tournaments at the national level, is often seen in the golf course with mani days.
