The promosing filmmakers

A fresh bunch of directors have certainly taken Indian cinema to another level with flicks like Tere Bin Laden, Peepli Live and Thanks Maa. Let’s have a look at the list of directors who have done a marvelous job- Karan Johar has declared that he would work only with Dharma Productions till end.

His first directorial project, We Are Family, got mixed reviews from critics, but the filmmaker is hopeful about his future. Another ace filmmaker Anusha Rizvi who made Peepli Live which was her directorial debut, have won the Best First Film award at the Durban film festival and made her an international name. An Indian movie has been selected in the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival after sixteen years. It is a real achievement for debutante Vikramaditya Motwane in itself. He has also penned movies like Dev.D and Goal. No one would have thought that Robinhood Pandey would become a famous name in every house.

Director Abhinav Kashyap’s Dabangg acquired the status of an all-time blockuster in only second week of its release and got overwhelming response.
Irfaan Kamal’s Thanks Maa has been officially selected to be screened at Edinburgh International Film Festival, Pusan International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, International Film Festival of India and Palm Springs International Film Festival. The debut child actor Master Shams Patel has also won the Best Child Artist for the movie respectively, in the 56th National Film Awards. Debutante filmmaker Irfaan Kamal said that he has just tried to achieve a home for the abandoned newborns and feels he has achieved his goal to some extent.

Kiran Rao is better known as Aamir Khan's wife but she prefers to be known by her work. Kiran started her career as an assistant director in the epic movie “Lagaan” directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. But what got her into the limelight was her directorial debut Dhobi Ghaat. The movie got critical appreciation and international appreciation at Toronto film festival.
