Mahesh’s theatrical tribute

Mahesh Manjrekar, who casted Salman Khan to act in his movies like Ready, Dabangg and Bodyguard, has now decided to turn his concentration to plays. The talented filmmaker will be soon seen paying a theatrical mark of respect to strong personalities of Indian cinema, both Hindi as well as Marathi.Mahesh asserted that he’s looking forward to a series of stage biographies on the masters of Indian cinema.

Beginning with V Shantaram and Sudhir Phadke, Mahesh Manjrekar would be portraying the central character in all the fragments. The director-actor is even studying the lives of each one in vast direction before playing the characters so that he can do full justice to the real icons of Hindi film industry. Since a long period, Mahesh has felt a missing part in our audience in the indulgent of how the entire film fraternity developed and who all helped give it its perfect silhouette. Mahesh has also felt a vacancy inside him as a star because of the characters he has been doing. Now it’s his turn to take hold of things. While, Mahesh is appreciated with directing the critically acclaimed movies like Vaastav: The Reality, Astitvaand Viruddh... Family Comes First.

He has won a National Film Award and two Star Screen Awards. The ace filmmaker has also acted in many flicks being some of his own productions. He first gathered acclaim as an actor for his performance in the 2002 movie Kaante, and later played negative characters in the Telugu movie titled Okkadunnadu and he also played the role of a gangster in Slumdog Millionaire. He was also seen in the blockbuster hit Dabangg where he played the role of father to Sonakshi Sinha who made her debut with this film opposite Salman Khan.
