Rajkumar Santoshi's Ladies and Gentleman might be delayed

Ever since Amitabh Bachchan tweeted on micro-blogging site that his loving bahuAishwarya is gonna become a mother soon, the entire film fraternity have park themselves to take note of how the flick trade could be pretentious because of the actress’s present condition.Aishwarya Rai has two movies in her kitty at the moment, one being, Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine and Rajkumar Santoshi's Ladies And Gentleman. While work on Heroine has already taken shape, but on the other side, Rajkumar Santoshi haven’t started film’s shooting.

Rajkumar Santoshi
Madhur Bhandarkar has mentioned that he had roped in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Heroine last month, and the movie went on floors earlier this month. As soon as Madhur came to know about the latest news he immediately mapped out a strategy to complete the film in a single schedule of 45 days. A source revealed that just fifteen days shoot of Heroine is not completed. Being an average budget movie, Heroine won't be affected in any big manner. On the other side, producers Madhur and Ronnie Screwvala of UTV have invested around Rs 18 crore in the movie.According to the buzz, Aish's character is showcased to be a depressed alcoholic, so in addition Madhur decided to shoot the actress with broad angle shots with a second camera to do the close-ups so that she did not have to shoot variations of the same scenes again.

The major problem for Madhur Bhandarkar could occur when it comes to promotion, by when the actress would be closer to her due date. Madhur will have to work harder when the promotional event will get started. The project that could infact come under force is Rajkumar Santoshi's Ladies And Gentleman where Aish was suppose to cast opoosite her husband Abhishek Bachchan, will perceptibly be delayed now and the filmmaker will almost certainly have to focus on another venture. Usually, Rajkumar Santoshi's movies are motivated and his investment begins from anywhere between Rs 40 crore to Rs 60 crore. So, now it seems like the fate of filmmakers and producers depend on Aishwarya’s comeback.

Madhur’s Heroine Shelved

Ace filmmaker who have enthralled the audiences with his successful films like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, etc and with his recent release Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, which was a romantic-comedy genre flick now Madhur Bhandarkar's forthcoming project Hroine continues to make news all around.

Madhur Bhandarkar
After Kareena Kapoor opted out of the film, it has been reported that Madhur Bhandarkar has decided to cast either Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Katrina Kaif in the lead role.Rumours have it that the Bollywood director is expected to discuss the general idea of the subject to Aishwarya Rai, before he meets Katrina Kaif. But the director however denies the news openly. Madhur asserted that still he has to decide what to make next. Therefore, the question of casting Aishwarya or Katrina doesn't stand anywhere. In fact, Madhur haven't even approached any of the actressess for the project. He also said that he is still thinking on what to make next. It could be a love story, it could be a comedy, it could be a realistic film, nothing has been graphed as yet.

Is there a war growing between Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif for the lead role in Heroine? Is it just a rumour? Or is there really some fact behind all the suspense? Madhur Bhandarkar actually shelved “Heroine” ever since things didn't quite work out well between the filmmaker and actress Kareena Kapoor. While Madhur was said to have moved on to other projects, there were many in the industry who were still hopeful that Heroine would turn to life someday. Madhur Bhandarkar as well as UTV are taking a diplomatic stand while not quite taking any names.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, who’s dating Vidya Balan for sometime now said that the team at UTV are committed to working with Madhur on a movie and they are together considering various options. The same attitude is maintained by Madhur as well. For the filmmaker, the subject of Heroine is close to his heart. And he may have shelved the movie for a short period, but he would definitely want to make it in future. We hope that Madhur would once again come up with something new and different as he always do…

Madhur BhandarkarOnce, an actor was being approached to sign a film, which he didn`t want to. To get rid of them the actor demanded Rs 25 crore for the movie, thinking they won`t call him anymore. But the next day, the corporate house came to him with his signing amount stated the director. Madhur says he have slaughted DTBHJ

The censors liked his recent released film but they also thought that the content was adult. They wanted a lot of dialogue muted. Madhur Bhandarkar who wanted to send the prints of the film overseas once thought that if he had gone in for any changes in a hurry. However, the filmmaker have ended up slaughting the movie.

Madhur BhandarkarSo, left with no option he had to settle for an ‘A’ certificate without any cuts. Dil To Baccha Hai Ji revolves around a 38-year-old divorcee enacted by Ajay Devgn in love with a 21-year-old, a womanizer played by Emraan Hashmi who doesn’t believe in commitment, and an idealist (Omi Vaidya) who was in search for true love. This rom-com is a reflection to today’s generation that keeps on talking about virginity, pornography and betrayal.

Madhur Bhandarkar told that he have bagged National Awards for movies like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Traffic Signal and Fashion. The filmmaker puts the question that what we’ll do with these outdated censorship laws as a ten year old kid also like the film, that means that the child must have seen it at home.

Madhur with a different script this time

After making hard-hitting films to his credit like Page 3, Fashion, Jail and Corportae, Madhur Bhandarkar just thought to shock the audiences this time with a different kind of cinema. The filmmaker is these days busy in promoting Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji which is set to hit theaters on January 26, 2011.

Madhur Bhandarkar
The movie stars Omi Vaidya, Emraan Hashmi, Shruti Hassan, Shazahn Padamsee, Ajay Devgn and Shraddha Das playing lead roles. Madhur Bhandarkar, a three-time national award winning director, mentioned that though the flick was different from his earlier works, it was still a realistic comedy. ”Dil To Baccha Hai Ji” is not a senseless comedy.

Everybody in the film make you feel that it is the tale of a person who one can identify with. The director liked the films of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee, and Madhur have always thought a day will come when he will also make one. When asked if it was difficult to make a comedy, he aver that it’s not a easy task to make people laugh through comedies, and especially through a film like ''Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji''. But, he has made an attempt and we wish that audience would love him for his work this time too!!!

Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn were supposed to be on the other side being grilled by the filmmaker, but the actors interrogated the director instead. But all this was done is good humour. Madhur Bhandarkar asked Ajay about his character in the movie DTBHJ. To this Ajay replied that the director of the movie asked him to act like him completely.

He wanted Ajay to play him, a 38-years-old falling in love with a 20-years-old. Hearing this Emraan Hashmi cracked up and the director was shocked and started laughing. When Emraan was asked the same question by Madhur, Emraan immediately asked Madhur to ask a sizzling question. Emraan was asked by Ajay whether the director taught him how to kiss in the movie? To this the star answered that as everyone knows that Madhur makes realistic cinema and he wanted to add his touch to everything. So even though Emraan knew how to kiss on screen he used to show him how to kiss each actress. The trio could not stop laughing for as long as the interview lasted. We wish that this time too Madhur who plays safe would have a hit this time too….

Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail was shoot in real jail

Bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar’s next film Jail has been shot at a real jail. Madhur Bhandarkar said that every uniform has been stitched by inmates from the jail. The whole cast of the film is being dressed in real jail clothes.

Each and every uniform was constantly counted . It was especially frightening on outdoors where one of the cast would lay out his uniform to wear and then look anxiously over his shoulder every five seconds to check if it was there.

Madhur Bhandarkar-Churns Reality on Screen

Madhur Bhandarkar

Madhur Bhandarkar began his career by assisting Ram Gopal Varma. After five years, he broke free and directed his first film, 'Trishakti' (1999), which was a complete flop. The film starred Milind Gunaji, Sharad Kapoor and Arshad Warsi.

Madhur decided to get more serious about his career. While bar hopping, he got the idea for his much-acclaimed, 'Chandni Bar', which put him into the limelight. Although it was produced by R. Mohan and featured Tabu in the lead role, the film didn't fare very well, but made him a talent to reckon with.

A relatively short career spanning 9 years or so, he has seen the heyday of many movies which have religiously broken out of the conventional streamline to catapult the multifarious shades of life in the crudest form as it can be. Exposing shams and dismantling the
facades, he has created a new idiom , a new language of cinema. So when the name Madhur Bhandarkar flashes across the screen what more can you ask for. Going against the tide and breaking the canons, he has time and again come up with a medley of movies, Chandni Bar, Satta, Page 3, Corporate, Traffic Signal and the latest talk of the town, Fashion.

Madhur moved on to make 'Satta', a political drama, with Raveena Tandon in the lead. . Despite his alleged link-ups, Madhur married his long-time girlfriend, Renu Namboodiri (an interior designer), on December 15, 2003, in Mumbai. It was a low-key wedding for relatives and select friends.

Bhandarkar then switched tracks from women-oriented subjects when producer Firoz Nadiadwala signed him for 'Aan: Men At Work', featuring Akshay Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha and Suniel Shetty . This one was a typical and expensive Firoz film, a cop drama with heavy-duty action and lavish item numbers. In fact, Madhur and Firoz even had a fall-out of sorts during the film's making when the latter would not stop his creative interference. Madhur was even supposed to direct a film for Subhash Ghai's banner, but the project did not take off on account of disagreements between Bhandarkar and the showman .

Madhur Bhandarkar

Bhandarkar has made a classic film 'Page 3', starring Konkona Sen Sharma, Tara Sharma, Bikram Saluja and newcomer, Jai Kalra. He's become infamous for the allegations hurled at him by starlet Preeti Jain. The latter claims that the director promised him roles in exchange of sexual favours. If this isn't a typical Page 3 story, what is?

His movies are cutting-edge in style, sharp witted, echoing of the spirit of the hour, experimental bearing the indelible directorial stamp and in the oddest of all combinations garnering commercial success at the box office. So what is the mantra and how does the the ice catch fire every time? The master craftsman has the answer, "I am an experimental filmmaker whose films do well commercially." A paradox it may seem is as apt as the adage that goes 'truth is stranger than fiction'. A closer look and what surfaces is unbelievably true. With movies made on a comparatively minimal budget save for the recent release Fashion and stories rooted in reality, miles away from fantasy, they are not the usual run-of-the-mill movies. But they are definitely not those serious in tone devoid of any entertainment.

Madhur Bhandarkar turns his wand and what spills forth is nothing short of magic. Incidents we encounter but tend to overlook in our routine lives or the other side of reality that we have never seen are imaged forth. But then they are not magic. The star of the show is invariably the open-endings. Once he has woven the tale, it is left to the discretion of the spectators to make their own conclusion, with the insinuations dropped here and there. So also the artists those who befit the roles, be it Tabu or Bipasha Basu, Konkona Sen Sharma or Priyanka Chopra.

If each movie has a uniquely real theme, then needless to say the research that has gone behind it is exhaustive. A sharp eye for details, costumes or accent or setting; you name it, he has it in the movie. A Page 3 socialite, bar dancer, corporate executive, vendor, politician or the model is never out of place. They are truly your characters next door, pause and observe, you may even spot yourself amidst them. It is the completeness of each character that is amazing. They may be your drivers, attenders, or any common man or woman. In spite of a lead character, each one has an integrity of its own. Not leaving behind contentious issues going by the latest trends and the gender equations, he has always presented strong women characters unwilling to be cowed down under any pressure.

Awards bestowed upon Madhur-

* National Film Awards

o 2002: Best Film on Other Social Issues: Chandni Bar
o 2005: Best Film: Page 3
o 2007: Best Direction: Traffic Signal

Contradiction that describes the bollywood director Madhur Bhandarkar is an understatement. Madhur enjoys David Dhawan's movies but churns out reality bites and his movies which are experimental have mostly set the cash counters ringing.

Bollywood Directors On TV

Bollywood Directors at Specials @ 10 on Sony Tv

Well… there are not judging a Reality Show or making a special appearance on TV. This is novel and serious stuff that we are talking. For the first time on the Indian television, Bollywood’s four celebrated movie makers, Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vikram Bhatt and Anurag Kashyap, are presenting short films especially made for the small screen viewers.

This format, known as ‘mini-series’ is popular in the West and has never been tried on the Indian television before. The treatment of these stories has been in the form of short films, which would be finished in 12 weeks . Sanjay Upadhyay, Creative Head (Fiction), Sony Entertainment Television (SET) informed that this 12-week series will be telecast on Sony TV from Monday to Thursday at 10 pm. The series had been named ‘Specials @ 10′ and is on air from March 2.

While three of the directors Bhandarkar, Kashyap and Bhatt - are involved in three separate 12-part stories , Manjrekar is involved with a series of twelve different stories. The concept of the series is not the regular TV stuff. In the heart of all the stories, lies the pain of women. But they are more close to the real Indian women and breaks all taboos.

The show will be in complete contrast from regular television content, and this will break the clutter and bring in new-age content for our
viewers.
