The Indian filmmaker Tapan Sinha

Tapan Sinha was born on 2 October 1924 in Kolkota and was an Indian filmmaker. He was the most inflexible director outside the range of Parallel Cinema.Tapan studied physics at the University of Patna and later bagged an MSc at the University of Calcutta.He married Indian actress Arundhati Devi and their son is Indian scientist Professor, named Anindya Sinha. On 15 January 2009, Tapan Sinha died of pneumonia and septicaemia.

Tapan Sinha went to London in 1950’s to study filmmaking. On accomplishing London, he contacted Cry Hearsth, Manager of Pinewood Studios. Through his help, Tapan managed to get hold of his first assignment. He got to work in director Charles Cryton's unit as a Sound Engineer. Cryton, who made some British comedies such as Lavender Hill Mob and so on was then working for a movie titled The Hunted.His flicks have also won laurels in International Film Festivals of Berlin, Venice, London, Moscow, San Francisco, Locarno, Cork Festival in Ireland, Kampuchea and Seoul.

The director has also served as a member of the jury in film festivals at Tashkent and San Francisco. In his young age, Tapan Sinha was highly influenced by contemporary American and British Cinema. Among his favourite filmmakers were John Ford, Carol Reed, and Billy Wilder..Tapan Sinha's first movie, Ankush, was based on the Narayan Ganguly tale Sainik, which had an elephant as the main character. His next film Uphaar featured Uttam Kumar, Manju Dey and others. His Aadhar Periye featured Madhabi Mukherjee, Subhendu Chaterji, Sumitra Mukherjee, Anil Chaterji,

Nirmal Kumar, Subrota Chaterji, Bikash Roy, Kalyan Chaterji, Chinmoy Roy and others. It was is based on a story penned down by Chittaranjan Maity.Kabuliwallah was based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore. The stars include Radhamohan Bhattacharji, Kali Banerji and Manju De. Tinku Thakur portrays the character of the small lass in the movie, and Jiban Bose has a character as well as a jailer. Tapan Sinha's “Zindagi Zindagi” was a Bollywood movie with actor Sunil Dutt and Waheeda Rehman. Though, the film doesn’t worked at the box office possibly because the narration was too slight for Hindi viewers. Another film Aadmi Aur Aurat was based on a story by Prafulla Roy. Murder 3 will also have Emraan in the lead

Filmmakers' college days

It was a walk down the memory paths for Bollywood renowned filmmakers Imitiaz Ali, Abhishek Chaubey and Vishal Bhardwaj as they visited the alumni meet of their alma mater to experience again their bachelorhood at the Hindu college hostel in New Delhi University.Chandrachud Singh, warden for Hindu college and the professor of Political Science who prearranged the meet said that they have refurbished the hostel and asked the ex-hostellers to come back and live there for day.
And it was seen that three hundred students attended the meet starting from 1954 batch. Sounds amazing.Imtiaz Ali, Abhishek and Vishal Bhardwaj were all students of Hindu College, Delhi and they all also shared a hostel there. So, what all happened when all the buddies met under one roof, Chandrachud Singh asserted that there was a qawali singing assembly with a tandoor cuisine and a bar. But drinking in the hostel is strictly prohibited. Lot of sher-o-shayari also took place at the gathering. The party went on till late hours and all the students present at the Hindu college hostel enjoyed a lot.

Well, it’s hard to determine the fun they must have had more than ever after they got a pass from their wives and children to spend a night together with their friends whom they couldn’t meet for years.Just read on. Imtiaz Ali told that Vishal Bhardwaj was his senior at the college and was the one to introduce him to social drinking. To which Vishal immediately replied that he did that and now he have come back just to see if Imtiaz is continuing doing it or not.

Vishal also revealed that he stayed in the same wing for exact three long years and also remembered his room numbers. The filmmaker also stated that on their last day of the college, they all got drunk and lay down in front of the corridor and started cryin loudly because they had to leave the college. Sharing all kind of jokes, facing embarrassing situations, friendly atmosphere all were shared at the Hindu hostel and these guys enjoyed a lot.

Seems like, Munnabhai won’t go to America, finally. After the grand success of 2006 release Lage Raho Munnabhai, producer-filmmaker jodi Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani had decided to make Munnabhai Chale Amerika. In the third part movie of the successful permit, Munna and Circuit, portrayed by actor Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi respectively were set to take a trip to the USA to meet the President.Now, writer-director Rajkumar Hirani who has also directed the award winning film 3 Idiots, has according to the sources edited his content completely,

and while he remained unavailable for comment, Arshad Warsi put himself forward saying that the fresh story has nothing to do with the USA or it’s President. There will be no USA in the next Munnabhai movie. As far as Arshad knows the matter, the flick’s script is completely changed. We wish that the things work in a positive way for the movie. As decided, the shooting for the film will most probably start by mid-2012. Piggy Chops will not be seen in 2 States

In December last year, it was reported how Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra after being signed for the lead role in Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's ‘Two States’ suddenly backed out, all thanks goes to the lead star Shahrukh Khan and his faith that the script of the movie required a talented actress. Appears as if, Bollywood baadshah has now had a change of feel. SRK not only suggested on having Priyanka on board again, but also persuaded the actress to take up the offer without thinking much.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf that starred Piggy Chops playing the main lead was a dud at the box office and that could also be one of the reasons that PC decided to turn down the offer. The fact that she is a Punjabi kudi and the character was that of a South Indian girl, also worked against her. However, looks like Shahrukh Khan's reference has conquered all weirdness. But both the filmmaker and Shahrukh are convinced that Priyanka can carry on the South Indian character well. They feel she holds the flexibility. And PC will learn how to speak Tamil. Even producer Sajid Nadiadwala is influenced that Priyanka can take the role to great heights. Gulzaar to write lyrics for Yash Chopra's film

It appears as if Bollywood filmmaker Yash Chopra's next venture is going to be a musical treat for all of us. After accompanying with music king A.R. Rahman, he has finally roped in ace lyricist Gulzar for his movie and is quite excited about it.Yash Chopra even said that though he has been associated with Yash Raj Films previously, this is the first time that he will be working alongside Gulzar sahab.

Yash Chopra who has decided to exercise the megaphone after seven years is looking forward to some excellent poetry, which he is personally very fond of. It will also be a great opportunity working with the award winning pair of A.R. Rahman and Gulzar sir and making some amazing and meaningful music.Both A. R. Rahman and Gulzar had together bagged the Oscar award for the song "Jai ho" from Danny Boyle's movie “ Slumdog Millionaire” which was released in 2009. Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently made a official declaration about his next Bollywood project after the release of successful box office hit 3 Idiots.However, the filmmaker has been powerless to finish the making of the movie as yet. According to a source, it has been revealed that director-producer Ekta Kapoor is the main cause behind the postponement of Ferrari Ki Sawari. It is a known fact that Ekta Kapoor's freshly released Marathi flick Taryanche Bait has a comparable storyline. Taryanche Bait was a father-son tale in which Sachin Khedekar's character makes a promise to his son that one day he’ll take him to a five star hotel in Mumbai and how the father struggles to accomplish his promise.
Similarly in Ferrari Ki Swari, Sharman Joshi promises his son a Ferrari ride.Now when Ekta’s Marathi movie is released and has received a decent feedback from the audiences, Vidhu Vinod Chopra who has written the script of the film doesn't want that the content should go waste or would be called as a remake of a regional movie due to the similar plot. Therefore, now the filmmaker is looking forward to make some necessary changes in the script due to which the ‘FKS’ will take some more time to wrap up.

This movie was thought to start early this year and was scheduled to release in the month of December 2011. Rajkumar Santoshi's Ladies and Gentleman might be delayed

Ever since Amitabh Bachchan tweeted on micro-blogging site that his loving bahuAishwarya is gonna become a mother soon, the entire film fraternity have park themselves to take note of how the flick trade could be pretentious because of the actress’s present condition.Aishwarya Rai has two movies in her kitty at the moment, one being, Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine and Rajkumar Santoshi's Ladies And Gentleman. Madhur Bhandarkar has mentioned that he had roped in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for Heroine last month, and the movie went on floors earlier this month. Franz Osten

Franz Osten was a famous German film director who in association with Niranjan Pal was among the first payers of Bombay Talkies. Franz Osten collaborated with Niranjan on a number of India's previous blockbuster movies like Achhut Kanya and Jeevan Naiya. As revealed, Franz was born as Franz Ostermayr in Munichin the year 1876. The German director trained to be a photographer like his dad and gave acting an attempt. In 1907, Franz founded a wandering cinema termed as the "Original Physograph Company" together with his brother Peter Ostermayr, who later invented the antecedent to Bavaria Film Studios. Franz Osten's silent movies tell multiplicity of Indian tales. 1926 release The Light of Asia contract with the life of Buddha. A Throw of Dice was related to the myths and legends haggard from Indian epic Mahabarata. All these above mentioned films have a say to rise the understanding of eastern religions and offered a banquet for the senses by showcasing elephants in festive decoration along with thousands of extras. His big sets were perfect for evading from reality, etc.

He directed Bollywood movies like Prem Sanyaswhich was released in 1925. Then he made Shiraz released in 1928. Prapancha Pash was released in1929 and the most famous film Achhut Kanyawas released in 1936. The filmmaker died on 2nd December 1956.

Manmohan Desai

Manmohan Desai the famous director of Bollywood was said to have relationship with actress Nanda from 1992 until he died in 1994. The filmmaker had one son Ketan Desai who is a part of the film industry presently. Manmohan got his first break with the Bollywood’s 1960 release Chhalia. Bluff Master, Dharam Veer, Desh Premee were the films directed by Manmohan Desai.

Manmohan Desai was acknowledged for his family-oriented, action-song-and-dance movies which supplied to the tastes of the Indian public and through which he got fame. His movies demonstrated a new genre called masala. The filmmaker then started working with Amitabh Bachchan on Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, Suhaag, Naseeb, Desh Premee, Coolie, Mard and Ganga Jamuna Saraswati; all but the last were box office successes.

He was one of the directors who had a different kind of working style with Amitabh Bachchan, the others being Yash Chopra, Prakash Mehra, Ramesh Sippy, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Apart from the strong actor Amitabh Bachchan, Manmohan Desai also worked with Raj Kapoor in Chhalia, Shammi Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna in Sachaa Jhutha, Randhir Kapoor in Raampur Ka Lakshman, Shashi Kapoor in "Aa Gale Lag Jaa, with Dharmendra as well as Jeetendra in Dharam Veer and last but not the leas with the cute star Rishi Kapoor in Coolie. Out of the 20 movies that Manmohan Desai directed in his career span of 29 years, as stated thirteen were astounding hits. His success graph rated high.

Govind Nihalani

Govind Nihalani the famous filmmaker, cinematographer, screenwriter as well as a film producer has been directing Bollywood movies since the late 1970’s as records suggests. The filmmaker hails from Karachi, Sindh region in 1940 and his relatives shifted to India during the partition of 1947. The director started his career as a cinematographer and got graduated in cinematography from the Shree Jaya Chamrajendra polytechnic in Bangalore in 1962. The filmmaker was an Assistant Cinematographer to the renowned V. K. Murthy. It’s a known fact that Ajay Devgan and the ace director have already brought together the first tralier of their film with Salman Khan and Asin starrer Ready, which is scheduled to hit the theaters this coming Friday.

It has been learnt that Rohit and Reliance Entertainment were respectively into discussions about making the latest prjoject. When Reliance recommended Rohit Shetty to come across at the Tamil film Singham featuring South Indian actor Suriya, he took time before giving any verdict. Rohit found the concept so appealing that immediately he gave his nod to make the Hindi sequel of ‘Singam’. Likewiseto the Tamil action genre movie, the Bollywood project will have Ajay playing a rough and tough, candid police officer.

It is said that first Prakash Raj, South Indian actor was signed to overtake his character if the adversary from the unusual, meantime reports developed that babes Anushka Shetty and Asin and were being approached to play the main role in the film. Anushka however turned out the offer and was afterwards replaced by Kajal Aggarwal, who has appeared in South Indian films. The first schedule of the film started in early March 2011 with action scenes shot in Goa.

Kat plays mediator between Sallu and Kabir Khan

News state that both Salman Khan and Aditya Chopra haven`t actually reached each other . Conceivably it has something to do with the producer being close to Sallu’s jaani dushman Shahrukh Khan. But with Katrina in the portrait, it seems like everything will go well. Kabir’s Ek Tha Tiger

After delivering an awesome performance in Bollywood filmmaker Kabir Khan's New York, actress Katrina Kaif is looking forward be working in Ek Tha Tiger opposite her ex-boyfriend Salman Khan.
Pritam Chakraborty will be scoring the music of for the venture and the film will be go on floors in the starting of July. Scheduled to hit the theaters in 2012 its a superhero project.

The filmmaker went on to add that the idea for the script came from Aditya Chopra who’s been dating Rani Mukherjee took a legend from an area of variance and put his own twist on it. The basic story is evidently true but coming from the world of intelligence, no resources related are getting geared up to set the record in the correct place. Yash Raj banner have always approached Salman Khan to do his films, The star declared that he was offered the lead character in ‘Chak De India’ but his schedule would not permit it. Salman Khan feels that he is on seventh heaven getting associated with Yash Chopra. Kabir Khan knew it well that he wished Salman Khan to portray the main actor as he felt that the character was alike to Salman and his appearance; being a real yet bigger than life character himself. Bollywood Without Unity, says Anurag Kashyap!

The famous Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap opines that there is no need to go to Australia or Pakistan because one can be killed even in Mumbai by the Shiv Sena. According to him, the Shiv Sena tried to cast its shadow over “My name is Khan” and that was done to gain popularity and attention from media.



Anurag who has made some different kind of movies like Black Friday and Dev D, says that the Bollywood lacks unity and integrity. If it was united then no such targets had been made by Shiv Sena. Just after the statement of Shahrukh Khan regarding the Pak players, the Sena started reacting. It wanted Shahrukh to apologise for the statement. The Sena had also opposed the release of “My name is Khan”, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.


Anurag Kashyap also says that if Bollywood is an industry, it should show it's professional attitude and the unity among all its members but it never happens so and that is why other people take advantage of that.

Priyadarshan plans to make film with Aamir

After making comedy flick De Dana Dan, with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, director Priyadarshan is now planning to make a film on AIDS with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan.



Films are meant to generate a mass reaction. Priyadarshan also stated that there is no point in making a film with one of the biggest stars of the country which only a handful of people want to watch. Priyadarshan who's a film buff understands about the film market and what the audiences want from a flick.

Priyadarshan wants to make films for the masses. Even if it’s about the mafia Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar and Trisha or whether it is the stigma attached to inter-caste marriages in a film with Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu and Akshaye Khanna, he will speak in the language of the common man.
