Filmmaker Yash Chopra to Inaugurate IFFI 2010

Bollywood Director Yash Chopra will be inaugurating the 41st International Film Festival of India (IFFI) this coming November 22, 2010 and ends on December 02,2010. The IFFI 2010 is a 10 day festival with the chief guest South Superstar Vikram at the closing ceremony.

Yash ChopraAfter all of the humors that some big superstar will inaugurate the film festival this year, the confirmation has come to Yash Chopra as the opening of the festival. Expected to light up the ceremonial lamp is Raima Sen. In the fact the turnout at the event is expected to be modest with celebrity like Rahul Bose, Raj Babbar, Bengali superstar Prosenjit, Manoj Bajpayee, Manisha Koirala and South actress Padmapriya. According to a senior official of one of the two organizers of the festival, Hollywood director Ang Lee will be the star attraction. He is India for his upcoming film, Life of Pi which is expected to shoot in Goa.

Total of 18 films are in competition this year including two Indian entries, Vihir and Just Another Love Story”. While List of films in the World Cinema category is not yet revealed, Om Puri’s film “West is West” is the opening film of the section. Master Class Section will be headed by Boman Irani which he will be discussing “Evolution of Comedy in Indian Cinema”. Leaving Home, based on the musical band Indian Ocean, is the opening film in the non-feature film category. The band will also perform in the festival.

Another highlight of the festival is to pay tribute to yesteryear actors like Ashok Kumar, Motilal, Nadia and filmmaker Raja Paranjape with screening of their significant films.
