Abhi-Aish in Rajkumar Santoshi’s next

The latest news is that filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi’s chief assistant director Anand Srivastav, will soon be wearing the director’s cap. The film will be produced by Vipin Anand’s Flagship India. The movie is a comedy and will be shot in Mumbai and a village in Bhopal.


Anand Srivastav said that this is his first film and he is very excited about it. The script is almost ready and he will be starting shoot on the project as early as possible. However, Anand Srivastatv did not revealed the cast of the movie. He said that he’s already approaching stars and things will be finalised within ten days as assumed. He also said that will also be assisting Rajkumar Santoshi on the upcoming movies ‘Power’ and ‘Ladies and Gentleman’. Anand further added that he can't reveal much about the movie. Whereas, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai will soon seen as on-screen couple in Rajkumar Santoshi’s romantic comedy,“Ladies and Gentlemen”, which will go on floors in July as speculated.
Aishwarya met Rajkumar Santoshi a week ago and he told her that before she start giving her dates to other producers, the filmmaker first wanted to finalise the deal with the couple as Abhishek and Aishwarya are his dream pair since a long time. The actress have liked this script. Ladies and Gentlemen will be the star couple’s ninth movie together. Their last film together was Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, which bombed at the box office. And since their marriage, the couple has been suspicious of over- exposing brand Bachchan, maintaining that they’d work together only when a movie would offer them something new and challenging.
Earlier, Aishwarya had opted out of Dostana, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and Game. More recently, she had also refused a Vipul Shah film opposite her husband, suggesting he cast Katrina Kaif instead. In the year 2008, she had Jodhaa Akbar and Sarkar Raj. In 2009, Aishwarya was fitting in between the Hollywood flick, The Pink Panther 2, Raavan and the Tamil film, Raavanan. Last year there was Robot opposite Rajinikanth, Action Replayy with Akshay Kumar and Guzaarish with Hrithik Roshan. Let’s see whether the couple fit in well in Rajkumar Santoshi’s upcoming venture or not!!

RGV to make cop flick

Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is busy these days with his new project. The director is actually making a sequel to his 2002 film Department that was itself a prequel to the Nana Patekar’s starrer Ab Tak Chhapan.


The movie revolves around encounter specialists who fall apart following a fight between dons who they owe their loyalty to. The filmmaker wants to cast Pradeep Sharma, Vijay Salaskar, Daya Nayak and Sachin Vaze, Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan playing the cops while the megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be playing the role of a senior cop.

The twist that comes in the film is when Sanjay Dutt, who plays the role of Pradeep Sharma and Ajay Devgan who plays Daya Nayak, forces others in the department including Abhishek Bachchan who plays Sachin Vaze to take sides. What else follows remains the bottom line of the film.

Amitabh to work with Abbas-Mustan

Amitabh Bachchan has become extremely choosy and hasn’t signed a movie for a long time now. Although Big B is scheduled to do a film with Rajkumar Santoshi, he is yet to sign on the dotted line. But now it has been reported that Amitabh Bachchan will be doing a film with Abbas Mustan.

Abbas and Mustan were at the Bachchan residence, Jalsa to narrate the final draft of their film to Abhishek Bachchan. While Abhishek took a break during the narration, Big B joined them. During the course of their conversation, they told Amitabh that they have never worked with him and would love to do that. The sources said that it won’t be a thriller as is usually expected from Abbas-Mustan but something completely different which is a change from their usual genre.

Ashutosh’s patriotic film

The most talented Bollywood director Ashutosh Gowariker, who has made amazing movies like Lagaan, Swades and even Jodhaa Akbar , has taken on the responsibility of rubbing off patriotism on the hearts and souls of as many Indians as possible.


The film-maker who is directing Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone in Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se has announced that he will now be taking questions on Twitter every Saturday on the history of India’s freedom movement and also about the movie.

Ashutosh Gowariker tweeted that, “Wishing you a great 63rd year of Independence! What better moment to tell you more about Surjya Sen, the man who planned the Chittagong Uprising of 1930 — the greatest revolutionary uprising against the British Empire in India’s history.”

Priyadarshan plans to make film with Aamir

After making comedy flick De Dana Dan, with Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, director Priyadarshan is now planning to make a film on AIDS with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan.



Films are meant to generate a mass reaction. Priyadarshan also stated that there is no point in making a film with one of the biggest stars of the country which only a handful of people want to watch. Priyadarshan who's a film buff understands about the film market and what the audiences want from a flick.

Priyadarshan wants to make films for the masses. Even if it’s about the mafia Khatta Meetha with Akshay Kumar and Trisha or whether it is the stigma attached to inter-caste marriages in a film with Ajay Devgn, Bipasha Basu and Akshaye Khanna, he will speak in the language of the common man.

Shaad Ali Sehgal Biography

Shaad Ali Sehgal, the renouned name of a bollywood director, is the son of Muzaffar Ali (a noted film producer and director) and Subhashini Ali Sehgal (an Indian politician and a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)) and grandson of Azad Hind Fauj commander Lakshmi Sahgal. He completed his school education at Welham Boys' School, Lucknow.




Ali started his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam, and assisted him on the film Dil Se (1998).

He made his directorial debut under Yash Raj Films, with Saathiya (2002), starring Rani Mukerji. The film was a remake of Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Alaipayuthey (2000). Saathiya's script was written by Ratnam. The film starring a newcomer Vivek Oberoi made great buisness and established Shaad Ali in the industry.

His second film was Bunty Aur Babli which for the first time brought together real-life father and son Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan alongside Rani Mukerji was one of the biggest hits of the year 2005.

Shaad Ali's third film released on 15 June, 2007. The film, titled Jhoom Barabar Jhoom starred Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta in leading roles but made no great impact and shattered on box-office.

As Director, he has directed some hugely successful and some average films like Saathiya (2002), Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (2007) and Aitraaz (2004) For Dil Se (1998) and Guru (2007), Shaad had donned the role of Assistant Director.

Rakesh Mehra's Delhi6 to be screened at Venice film festival this year

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, whose Delhi-6 is going to be screened at the Venice film festival this year, has managed to do things his own way. The director has changed the climax of Delhi-6 for the international audience and decided to kill the character of Abhishek Bachchan in the end.

So for the time being, Junior B's fanswon't see the actor waking up from a dream instead, he would breathe his last after being attacked by the mob.

The new cut of the film has been created especially for a screening in Venice Film Festival where the film has been selected for the 'Out Of Competition' category. It is for the first time a film has to be reshot and re-edited post its release. The film, which released earlier this year did not get a good response in India. The film was also starred Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

Dharmesh Darshan Biography

Dharmesh Darshan is an Bollywood filmmaker, film director and writer.

Dharmesh Darshan made his directional debut with Lootere (1993), for which he also wrote the story. The film was produced by his brother Suneel Darshan, and was a hit at the box office.

In 1996, he made his second film in a big way with Raja Hindustani, starring Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor. The movie was the biggest hit of that year as well as one of the biggest blockbusters of the 90s. It was also much appreciated as Darshan won the Filmfare Best Movie Award and several awards at the Star Screen Awards ceremony.

He was on a sabbatical of almost four years after the success of Raja Hindustani. He returned in 2000 with two releases, which were directed and written by himself. His first film Mela starring again Aamir Khan was disastrous at the box office and was poorly reviewed by critics However, his second release Dhadkan with Akshay Kumar and Shilpa Shetty did moderately well at the box office and won him acclaim. He was nominated for Dhadkan in different award ceremonies in the Best Director, Best Film and the Best Story categories.

His next release in 2002, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya starring Karisma Kapoor and her boyfriend of that period, Abhishek Bachchan was a remake of the 1981 film Ek Hi Bhool and was a complete failure for Darshan at the box office and with critics.

The 2005 film Bewafaa was the next venture of Darshan. It was expected that the film would be a success because of its successful songs and well known stars. However, it performed below averagely at the box received average reviews.

His last release came in 2006 and the film called Aap Ki Khatir was a remake of the Hollywood hit The Wedding Date. It was also a disaster.

With the kind of mixed fate that Dharmesh has, we wish him good luck. Hope to have some more classics like Raja Hindustani.

Karan Johar's Public Awareness Video

For the ‘Vote Aapke Haath Mein Hai’ campaign produced by Karan Johar
for Dharma Productions, John Abraham, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif
were chosen , amongst a dozen odd other youth icons.

This specially created video couldn't be shot later with them due to
some unforeseen circumstances.

The director Tarun Mansukhani had to contend with other actors.This is
certainly Tarun Mansukhani's drastic shift from a colourful ‘Dostana’
to his recent campaign that has been shot in all Black & White.

The video now stars Abhishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor,
Imran Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Asin, Ritiesh Deshmukh,
Farhan Akhtar, Sonam Kapoor and Karan Johar himself.

So what really went wrong? What was the real reason behind John,
Bipasha and Katrina opting out of ‘Vote Aapke Haath Mein Hai’ which is
written by Niranjan Iyengar, the man who has written dialogues Karan
Johar films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’?

Nothing controversial actually, it was just that on the day of the
shoot, John and Katrina were not in the town due to which we had to go
ahead without them and Bipasha's 'Aa Dekhen Zara’ was being released
on the same day when we had to shoot for the video.

Though there have been accusations that his video, which carries the
punch line of ‘Kuch Nahi Ho Sakta’, is an out-and-out copy of
Hollywood’s ‘Don’t Vote’ commercial featuring Leonardo DiCaprio,
Forest Whitaker, Dustin Hoffman, Ellen DeGeneres, Jennifer Aniston,
Ashton Kutcher, but Tarun refuses to agree.

The point at the end of the day is that the video has been liked and
more than that the message is being rightly passed on to the youth.
All celebrities coming together for this cause has helped create a
great awareness around our right to vote and that’s what that matters
at the end of the day.

Karan Johar to make films of Public-concern

The entire music video from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions featuring young A-listers from Hollywood asking the young in India to vote was put together in two days flat.



And that included Salim’s (of Salim-Suleiman) background music, said Karan proudly.

They began with Abhishek Bachchan and Karan Johar himself, trooped into the studio to have their say on camera.

Karan was delighted. I had to do nothing except pick up the phone and ask everyone to come and record their message for the young. I was surprised by how readily and quickly they took time off from their busy schedules for this public-interest broadcast.

And now Karan Johar has discovered a new passion. He wants to now produce informative profit-free short films for television that would subscribe ways to achieve an improvement in the quality of our life.

Karan Johar’s entire music video urging the youngsters of the country to vote was put together in two days and considering it stars every 32-minus A-lister from Kareena Kapoor to Abhishek Bachchan, that’s no mean achievement.

The credit for the music video must go to Imran Khan, says Karan Johar who has been shooting non-stop with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for My Name Is Khan. I had gone to meet Imran for a film when he brought up the idea of a video on voting. His enthusiasm rubbed off on me. I got together with Mukul

Deora, called up my writer-friend Niranjan Iyenger to write the script and asked my Dostana director and friend Tarun Mansukhani to direct it. And we were ready.

Karan will now be looking at other public-interest films where he can use his connections in Bollywood for purposes other than entertainment.

The vote-youth video made me realize the importance of reaching out to the public. Considering we’re going through a global economic recession and other major problems it is very important for the young to be mobilized into casting their votes to elect correct leaders. Similarly there’re other areas where I think my contacts could come in handy
